Betting tip World Cup 2018: Romania - Poland

Will Romania remain undefeated?

Romania changed their coaching staff, after they didn’t make it out of the group phase at the EURO. The team now is undefeated under new coach Christoph Daum. This Friday they play against Poland. Kick-off is November 11 at 8.45 PM.

Current form Romania

After three rounds of the world cup qualification for Russia 2018 the team of Romania is still undefeated. Still they probably are not totally satisfied with the results. In the last game against Kazakhstan they were only able to draw 0:0, even though they went into this game as the favorite. Before that game the Daum-Eleven showed that they also can play very well in away games however. They clearly beat another group outsider Armenia 5:0. In the first game against Montenegro, Romania probably expected a little bit more than the 1:1 draw. With exception of the Armenia game, when Romaina was in top shape offensively, they rather have their strengths on defense. They only received one goal in three qualification games so far. So what really needs improvement is Romania’s offensive game. They would have the player material for that. Nicolae Stanciu (Anderlecht) and Alexandru Maxim (VFB Stuttgart) for examples are players, who can give the game creative impulses. Other good offensive players on the team are Florin Andone, Claudiu Keseru and Denis Alibec. So it’s up to Christoph Daum to keep Romania undefeated. The team has been struggling in front of their home crowd lately however. Additionally Poland is a team that will challenge the host’s defense more than any other opponent before. Romania’s roster is very experienced though, which could be an advantage in close games.

Current form Poland

Poland had good chances at the EURO 2016, they unluckily got eliminated against the later champion Portugal in the quarter finals. Adam Nawalka’s team seems to have overcome that elimination though. So far they obtained two wins and one draw in the ongoing world cup qualification. Nevertheless the team is lacking consistency. Poland is only able to perform on their top level in parts of the game. Against Denmark for example they almost let a comfortable lead slip. Another example is the 2:2 draw at the start against Kazakhstan. The Nawalka-Eleven seems to struggle against defensively stable teams. That’s why Poland could get into trouble against Romania. The player material of Poland is stronger than their opponent’s though. They have world class players on a couple of positions. Above all there is Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski or Roma goal keeper Wojtziech Sczcyesny. Lewandowski’s genius striker partner Akardiusz Milik won’t be able to play on Friday unfortunately. Inside defender Igor Levczuk and midfielder Maciej Rybus might also miss the game due to injury. Milik’s absence brings another problem to light. Without him Poland is even more dependant on the form on the day of captain Lewandowski. Some games at the EURO in France already showed that this can be a problem. Additionally Poland showed weaknesses on defense in this qualification and they have received at least one goal in every game.

Betting forecast

Defensively Romania has slight advantages, offensively Poland doesn’t only have more individual qualities, but they also proved to be more creative and more determined in the past. All in all a close game can be expected. We believe however that Poland will be able to celebrate their next success. Our recommendation therefore: Tip 2.
